Bushi no Kakeibo plot

During the Meiji Restoration in Edo-Japan, Naoyuki is a descendant of the Inoyama family, a wealthy family highly regarded for their accounting skills. He is a gifted mathematician and is extremely skilled with the abacus. In other times his position would bring him great prosperity, but the Kaga clan he works for is in decline in these tumultuous times and Naoyuki is forced to sell his possessions bit by bit while making ends meet. He and his wife Koma persist in trying to keep up their spirits and continue to live joyfully.
