Biography of the on-again, off-again relationship between Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. The film follows the couple in 1983, as they prepare for the Broadway play Private Lives. The fame creates enormous pressure and the public interest in their private lives means that they cannot convince in the play. Their relationship is also getting worse.
