Brot und Rosen plot

The worker and committed communist Georg Landau (Günther Simon) successfully climbs the social and political ladder holding political discussions about Marxism, efficiency in factories and the reunification of East and West Germany. Paul Kallam (Harry Hindemith) is also a communist, but he is mayor and then manager of a factory. However, according to Landau, he is passive and lazy and this leads to heated discussions between the two. In addition, Landau has to contend with his wife Jutta (Eva-Marie Hagen) and his mother.
