Boku to Tsuma no 1778 no Monogatari plot
Science fiction writer Sakutaro (Tsuyoshi Kusanagi) is told that his wife Setsuko (Yuko Takeuchi) has colon cancer and has up to a year to live. However, his doctor (Ren Ohsugi) claims that laughter is beneficial for the immune system and Sakaturo decides to use this advice to extend his wife's life and make it more bearable. From then on he writes a short story for his wife every day.
