Beyond America plot

During an Eastern European totalitarian regime, a prominent dissident writer survives oppression by entering into a submissive sexual relationship with her former lover. After they broke up years ago, he joined the secret police just to give her the protection she needed. Struggling to maintain her humanity, she falls in love with a young dreamer, who introduces her to literature and then transforms it to satisfy her own desires, freedom and temptations.
