Besondere Kennzeichen: Keine plot

Germany shortly after the war. Like so many other women, Gerda Krause lost her husband in the war and now has to take care of her and her two children alone. She finds a job as a seamstress, but she cautiously declines the offer of her department manager, Zimmermann, to develop further within that work. One day she meets an old friend, Uschi, who used to help her with her homework before the war and she has lost track of it afterwards. Gerda also remembers her childhood dream to become a teacher. So she decides to go to college and realize her childhood dream. She also has to recognize that Zimmermann, who has always shown her his affection, is the right man for her.
