Barbora Hlavsová plot

Hlavsa, the widely respected manager of a small-town pawn shop, commits embezzlement because of his erratic and dissolute wife. When the situation can no longer be saved, he shoots himself. His mother, a simple village woman, takes in her daughter-in-law and teenage grandson on the condition that they both help her pay for all the damage. For the city woman, the hard work of the village is an ordeal. The same goes for the young Borík, a gifted pianist, who finds it difficult to give up his dreams of a career as an artist.
