Balkonas plot
'Balkonas' is set in the 1980s in a provincial town in the former Soviet Union. After his parents' divorce, Rolana moves in with his father. He befriends his neighbor Emilia. Since both children are shy and scared, they communicate with each other through the wall, from the balcony or through the electrical outlet. Emilia's parents are also apparently on the verge of divorce. The children discover that they have a lot in common, but after an incident that could have ended tragically, Emilia is no longer allowed to play on the balcony. This encourages the children to schedule a "real" date.
