Bakumatsu plot
"The Restoration of Meiji"
Sakamoto Ryoma is a samurai of the Tosa clan who believes that the emperor should be the ruler of Japan. The film follows his life from the point where he leaves his clan to unite the Satsuma and Choshu clans with the goal of overthrowing the Tokugawa shogunate. It shows the turbulent times in the last years of the Edo period (Bakumatsu).
