Young criminal Danny Lester has been sentenced to a replacement sentence at the Variety Club Ranch in Copperas Cove, Texas. Danny seduces rancher Maud Brown and irritates others. Ranch owner Marshall Brown investigates Danny's misbehavior, delves into his past and learns that he feels unjustly responsible for his mother's death. After another crime and attempted escape, Danny learns that he is not responsible for his mother's death. Judge Florence Prentiss again sentences Danny to community service at the Variety Club Ranch. Marshall Brown is hopeful that Danny will end well this time.
