Ba Shan Ye Yu plot
The poet Qiushi is taken by boat across the Yangtze to a prison in Wuhan. These are the years of the Cultural Revolution and its "crimes" are of a political nature. His wife has passed away and he no longer has contact with his daughter. One of his guards, a woman, spews Maoist doctrines, the other is a taciturn veteran. A cross-section of victims of the Cultural Revolution and other people populate the shared cell. Their response to Qiushi ranges from fear and contempt to compassion.
