Aristocracy plot

Virginia (Edna Mayo) is the daughter of wealthy San Francisco railroad tycoon Jefferson Stockton (Tyrone Power Sr.). She is engaged to Stuyvesant Lawrence (William Roselle), who comes from an old New York aristocratic family. After Lawrence's father refuses to agree to the marriage, Virginia leaves for Europe with her father and his young wife Diana. Believing that Lawrence is betrothed to someone else, she marries a fortune hunter, Prince Emil von Haldenwald.
