Antes Que Cante El Gallo plot
Carmin's dream of moving to the city with her mother is shattered when her mother moves to the US with her new husband. As a teenager, Carmin grows up in Barranquitas, a mountainous village in central Puerto Rico, with her grandmother, a tough and conservative woman. The arrival of her father, who spent years in prison, lessens Carmin's sadness. In any case, the relationship with him brings its own ambiguity and complexity. The girl must learn to live with the feeling of abandonment on the one hand, and the carefulness on the other.
