"Different worlds under the same sky."
Hanako could always lean on her privileged background, but suddenly finds herself alone when the relationship with her fiancé ends. Pressured by her wealthy family, she sets out to find a new suitor. Her story is contrasted with that of Miki. She came from a poorer family from a smaller city to Tokyo to build a life of her own. Two women, from two completely different backgrounds, who happen to meet because of the same man: the aristocratic lawyer Koichiro. Contemporary Tokyo is examined from the divergent perspectives of these two women in this film adaptation of Mariko Yamauchi's book.
