The Eatons lead a quiet life until the day they learn that their 19-year-old son has been admitted to the university hospital with a nervous breakdown. His parents, Betty (Jean Stapleton) and Michael (Arthur Hill), rush to the scene. Their son, Owen (John Putch), is tied up for aggressive behavior caused by drugs.
