Amour d'Enfance plot

At his mother's request, Paul (Amalric) returns to his parents' farm in southwestern France after college. His father is terminally ill and his mother desperately needs him in the field. While Paul helps run the farm, he bonds with his mother, his old friend Thierry and his girlfriend, his former girl next door. Picking up his old life turns out to be more difficult than he thought: contact with his father is difficult, Thierry is jealous of him and the green area is slowly being built up with new blocks of houses, from which his former friends earn money. But Paul is no longer what he once was.
