Am Ende der Welt plot

Old Bell, owner of a sawmill and the surrounding forest, passed away twenty years ago. Since then, the nature-loving Michael has been the manager of the sawmill. Then suddenly Bell's daughter Roberta comes to him. She demands a large sum of money with which she wants to open a cabaret theater in the city. She also wants to perform as a singer herself. However, Michael sees little chance of making money from the sawmill, but driven by Roberta's asset manager, he pawns the forest. As a result, he ends up in jail. Roberta goes to perform in a cabaret show outside of town to raise the money to get Michael out of prison.
