David (55) has a deadly form of cancer. He decides to stay in his summer house with his ex-wife Sarah (55). In the space of two months, Sarah helps him complete his latest play "The escape that never happened". The play is a dramatization of their relationship told through the love stories of three apparently different couples: Sarah and David (22), Sarah and David (33) and Sarah and David (44).
