"Alex has two great loves. To win one, she must lose the other."

New Zealand Alex Archer is a 15-year-old teenager who wants to win the 100-meter freestyle at the 1960 Olympics in Rome. She makes it difficult for herself because, unlike the competition, she also takes piano and ballet lessons in addition to her swimming training. When her boyfriend also dies, the realization of her dream seems further away than ever.
