Alan & Naomi plot

New York 1944. The war is raging in Europe. At Alan's house, the developments are followed on maps, but for him it remains far away. Until he meets a Jewish refugee. Her name is Naomi Kirschenbaum and she is from France. She comes to live in the same block of flats as Alan. She has been through terrible things and refuses to speak. Alan's parents decide that he is the right person to help her. Alan prefers to play ball with his friends instead of hanging out with a girl. He is ashamed of her and imagines that the boys in his class start calling him a girl crazy. Still, Naomi becomes his best friend and Alan becomes more important to her than anyone else.
