Ai Xuoi Van Ly plot

Six years after the US military left Vietnam, Tan, a former Viet Cong officer, sets out to take the remains of his dead comrade Thai to his family in the remote mountain area. On the train he meets their old friend Mien, who has built up a precarious existence, which is being opposed in every way by an economic boycott. In the bustle and chaos on the platforms, Tan loses sight of Mien and the urn and is forced to continue his journey by moped across the countryside to the hilly hinterland.
