Agnes Joy plot
Rannveig is unhappy in all aspects of her ordinary, dull life in an affluent Icelandic suburb. She's stuck in a job she hates and a marriage that is slowly bleeding to death. In addition, she is constantly bickering with her adopted young daughter Agnes, whose rebellious behavior is mainly a reaction to the tensions in the family. Rannveig finds it hard to accept that Agnes is growing up, taking on her own life, and leaving her parents behind. When suddenly the new and attractive neighbor Hreinn shows up on the doorstep, the whole family is faced with new challenges.
