Addio per Sempre! plot

A sympathetic craftsman, who is married and has two children, is well liked by everyone. His mother lives with the family. His best friend is an influential old man. One night he catches his wife with another man and on a whim kills him. He flees from Naples and goes to New York. Years later, after World War II, he returns. During his absence, the old man looks after his mother and the children. His wife has been disowned and is no longer allowed in the house or near the children. His years in America have been very successful and he has managed to build a new life for himself. After his return to Naples, he is plagued by feelings of guilt and homesickness. The neighborhoods where he lived with his family have changed. He is determined to find his family again.
