In Manaus, Justino, in his forties, works as a security guard at a cargo port. His wife passed away some time ago, leaving his youngest daughter Vanessa the only one waiting for him at home. Not for long, however, because she will soon start studying medicine. Justino doesn't feel at home in his village and seems doomed to a life without a home of his own. When he is overcome by a high fever, Vanessa is forced to choose between her dream as a doctor and her ailing father.
