Kathleen is a tough businesswoman with a troubled past. Just before Christmas, her boyfriend Andrew asks her if she can temporarily babysit his daughter Lucy while he is on a business trip. At first things don't seem to go well between Kathleen and Lucy. Kathleen meets Sam, a bum, and she decides to bring him in. When the power goes out due to a snowstorm, the three of them will have to spend Christmas in a different way.
