Negro, a coyote (someone who smuggles people into a country for a fee), is hired to smuggle a group of illegal immigrants into the United States. Because he doesn't really want to do this anymore, he decides that this will be the last time. His boss, who doesn't trust him, sends the young coyote Gavilán along to keep an eye on him. During the seven-day journey through the Arizona desert, a battle ensues between Negro and Gavilán, leaving several migrants to die or be left behind.
