Toshiro Kawano, 44, works for a trading company in Fukuoka. He has a casual relationship with 37-year-old Yumi, but neither of them continue it into something permanent. Then, after a medical examination, Toshiro is told that he will never be able to have children. Dismayed, he walks through the rain and hears the young girl Karin singing the song '22-sai No Wakare' in a shop. He is immediately attracted to her and they appear to have a special bond from the past.
