The Moonhunter tells the true story of two young Thai revolutionaries. Sexan Prasertkul, a fearless student leader, who in October 1973 became the leader of the largest mass demonstration in modern Thai history. The event sparked a popular uprising that overthrew the military dictatorship and restored democracy. His life and that of his girlfriend, Chiranan Pitpreecha, took a drastic turn when they were caught up in the wave of political violence fueled by remnants of the old ruling elite who still wanted to return to the dictatorship. After the murders of many fellow activists, the two decided to join the illegal armed movement, which was led by the Communist Party of Thailand and fought in true guerrilla style in the forests of Thailand.
