Zwischen den Stühlen plot
Before one can work in Germany as a real school teacher, one must not only complete a heavy theory study, but also complete a perfect internship after its completion. But this puts many new teachers in a difficult and almost paradoxical position: they are already teaching students, although in a sense they are still students themselves and learning their profession. They assess the children and are in turn assessed by their teachers and professors. In 'Between the Chairs', director Jakob Schmidt accompanies three trainees on the difficult road to their exams.
