Youth Knows No Pain plot
"What would you do to look young again?"
As a child, filmmaker Mitch McCabe drew dolls with wrinkles. By her thirties she is completely obsessed with age and especially with all the signs that betray that age. The origin of her preoccupation with being young can still be explained -- she is the daughter of a plastic surgeon who has since passed away. But why is the rest of America so obsessed? McCabe talks to doctors, plastic surgeons and many women. Like 53-year-old Sherry, who is glad she got her boobs done. A 26-year-old woman calls the lines on her forehead disgusting, her friend decides not to drink from water bottles anymore to prevent the wrinkles around her mouth. Between all the stories from the billion-dollar industry, the now 38-year-old McCabe talks about her childhood. She realizes all too well that it's not about the outside. Yet. She herself has been disappointed with the lines along the corners of her mouth for years.
