A journey through the underworld of Japanese cinema, from the end of World War II to the present. Emblematic figures in the new Japanese cinema like Kitano and Miike have given the yakuza genre a new direction. But in the 40 years before that, actors and directors met real yakuza and real yakuza and gang leaders became actors. It was the time when the Toei Cinema Studio, the largest in Japan, became the "Yakuza Film Factory".
