Xi Wang Zhi Lü plot

Every year in August and September, thousands of farm workers leave the poor Chinese region of Sichuan. For three days and two nights they travel by train to China's 'far west', Xinjiang. In that autonomous area they will help bring in the enormous cotton harvest. This time is for most the first time they leave their home village.
