Wittstock, Wittstock plot

In 1974 director Volker Koepp first arrived in Wittstock, an old town in Brandenburg just northwest of Berlin. Koepp filmed the changes that resulted from the construction of a huge textile factory. In his portrait of everyday life, he focused on three women, Edith, Elsbeth and Renate, who struggled with problems at work, married and had children.
