With Grace plot

Grace is thirteen years old and lives with her parents and eight siblings in rural Kenya. Rain is everything to this family, because precipitation makes the crops grow and provides food. In a frame story, Grace takes us back about seven years in time, when the family was struck by disaster. A period of extreme drought, during which little Grace feared that her father would have to leave for the city to find work, was followed by a storm that destroyed their makeshift roof of corrugated iron and branches.
