Wieloryb z Lorino plot

This documentary shows a portrait of the remote town of Lorino, in the far northeast of Siberia. Endangered whales are still hunted here, out of tradition and out of dire necessity. While waiting for the catch, customers buy their food on the bill in the sparsely stocked village supermarket. A bust of Lenin overlooks the town square, commemorating an era that left deep marks on life here in less visible ways, too.
