Using Chris King's collection of 78rpm LPs, this documentary takes you back in time to one of the oldest forms of Western music. King is an American music expert who studies early recordings of melancholic blues and folk music from the early twentieth century. One of his favourites: the sad violin music of the Greek Alexis Zoumbas, who emigrated to New York in 1910. It doesn't get any better than that. “Everything recorded after 1949 is junk,” King said.
