Von wegen ‚Schicksal‘ plot

Irene Rakowitz, 48, is a divorced mother of four who lives with her two youngest children in the Berlin district of Märkisches Viertel and who survives on disability benefits. Her ex-husband, a former miner, lives in the same neighborhood. Inspired by the activities of students in her neighborhood, Irene freed herself from her husband. But a harsh and abrasive conflict persists regarding his continued influence over the children. The older daughters are resentful, condemn their mother and call her a "troublemaker". In the film, Irene Rakowitz tells her story.
