Verhoeven versus Verhoeven plot
In his nearly 50-year career, Paul Verhoeven has repeatedly managed to fascinate the public with films in which the themes of sex and violence play an important role. He received admiration, but at the same time his cross-border work often met with fierce aversion and resistance. Director Elisabeth van Zijll Langhout made a portrait of Verhoeven and his oeuvre. She shows that the director not only enters into an intense dialogue with his audience through his films, but also with himself. What is good, what is evil, and where are the boundaries between the two?
