Verboden Vlucht plot

In Forbidden Flight, questions are asked about freedom based on the escape story of the East German Anhalt family. In the early 1980s, the young couple Anhalt from the GDR built a single-engine plane to escape from the communist dictatorship. They were betrayed, arrested and imprisoned. Their two children were placed with relatives. Thirty years later, members of the family look back on their history. How did the failed escape attempt affect their mutual bond and how did the events influence their ideas about freedom?
