Venus Boyz plot
A man in a mini-skirt and earrings, no one is surprised anymore. But who has ever heard of the Drag Kings? Yes, you guessed it: women who - often caricatured - want to be men, some for one evening, others for their lives. In the documentary Venus Boyz, a Drag King evening in the legendary New York club Casanova forms the starting point for a cross-gender odyssey to a world where women become men. The Drag Kings meet in clubs where they lustfully transform into their male alter egos, parody masculinity and explore male eroticism and power strategies. In London we see women experimenting with hormones to become new men and 'cyborgs'. Masculinity and transformation as performance, subversiveness or existential need.
