Trembling Mountain plot
On April 25, 2015, Nepal was hit by a devastating earthquake that killed 9,000 people. A vibration of 7.8 on the Richter scale causes an avalanche of snow, ice and rubble that destroys entire villages. This includes the village of Langtang, located in the beautiful Langtang valley where the Himalayas majestically draw the horizon and which has developed into a true trekking paradise. The avalanche kills 176 villagers, as do about 80 hikers. The Nepalese filmmaker Kesang Tseten Lama travels to the area the day after the quake and, even when the news channels have long since forgotten the quake, follows the villagers for more than a year to record how the survivors try to rebuild their lives. After the initial dismay at the extent of the devastation, there is also the realization that the reconstruction of the village is beyond the physical and financial capacity of the residents. The villagers try to get subsidies or forgiveness of debts from governments and agencies. Meanwhile, they are holding a memorial service with relatives of killed tourists.
