Trainer! plot

Director Aljoscha Pause highlights in his documentary 'Trainer!' the career of football coaches in Germany, from the training to become a simple football coach, to the coach of the national team. He was on the road with his team for a whole year, following three famous football coaches with his cameras, practically all the way into the locker room. They are André Schubert from FC St. Pauli, Stephan Schmidt from SC Paderborn and Frank Schmidt from 1. FC Heidenheim. He also discusses the strong pressure exerted on the coaches, who every day have to deal with the critical reporting of the media in addition to their actual profession, but also the views and opinions of the many football fans. Aljoscha Pause tries not to pass judgment in order to guarantee an even better relationship with the football coaches.
