Tirss, Rihlat Alsoo'oud ila Almar'i plot

The Lebanese Civil War (1975-1990) claimed the lives of a quarter of a million people. An unknown number of others are missing to this day. Estimates range from 2,000 to ten times as many, but the authorities do not want to investigate further after a general amnesty. Ghassan Halwani does. The debuting filmmaker digs into old archives, looks at photos and carefully traces people. He peels off recent Lebanese history, layer by layer, sometimes literally as he scrapes posters off a wall to uncover pasted photos of the missing.
