This Divided State plot
"Death Threats, Bribery, and Family Values."
Shortly before the 2004 presidential election, representatives of Utah Valley State College students invited Michael Moore to speak at their university about free speech and how to curtail it. When it becomes known that Moore is coming to speak, it causes unrest and controversy in predominantly right-wing Utah, where the majority vote conservative. Moore's opponents resort to death threats, petitions, lawsuits and bribery. Moore's proponents are primarily Mormons who struggle to be heard and to defend new ideas. The documentary shows what takes place prior to the arrival of Michael Moore.
