Cruel. Sadistic. Exciting. When it came to making independent films, William Grefé was the boldest in the world. In the 1960s and 1970s, the Miami-based producer/director transformed the darkest corners of the Florida swamps into his own personal background position. From the ferocious crocodiles owned by an ancient Seminole witch-doctor (Death Curse of Tartu) to a swinging snake named Stanley, William Grefé brought low-budget exploitation films to drive-ins and movie theaters around the world.
