In May 2014, Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov was arrested by the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for being involved in supporting the Euromaidan in Kiev and resisting the annexation of Crimea to Russia. More than a year later at the end of the trial, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for committing crimes "of a terrorist nature". In his documentary, Kurov explores the truth behind this political media process. Were the witnesses placed under duress during the interrogations? What effect did the detention and trial itself have on the accused and his family?
