The Secret History of Eurovision plot

General Franco, the Cold War and European unification turn out to have an unexpected relationship with ABBA, Cliff Richard and Dana International. The 2-part documentary 'The hidden history of the Eurovision Song Contest' proves this. It offers a revealing look behind the scenes of the Eurovision Song Contest against the backdrop of a changing Europe. In the first part, attention is paid to the cheerful kitsch of the songs and the colorful outfits, but also to the social and political relationships in a divided Europe after the Second World War. The second part focuses on the increasingly exuberant acts and the social and political relationships in the new Europe after the fall of the wall.
