The Savoy King: Chick Webb & the Music That Changed America plot

Chick Webb (1905-1939), one of America's best drummers and orchestra leaders, was home to Harlem's Savoy Ballroom, one of the few places in the 1930s where black and white could interact freely. Webb, who suffered from TB in his youth, barely grew and had a deformed spine, suffered from pain all his life. That didn't stop him from becoming the inventor of modern drumming and building the most sensational band of the 1930s.
