The River plot

The Mississippi drains two-thirds of all the water in the Americas, from the Rocky Mountains in the northwest to Pennsylvania in the east. A great deal of agriculture and forestry is practiced along the river and all its tributaries, with a lot of soil disappearing into the river due to erosion. This documentary draws attention to this problem in the Depression 1930s, because all this fertile soil is disappearing near New Orleans and Baton Rouge in the Gulf of Mexico. The major floods in the northern basin must also be stopped, including in Tennessee.
