The Miscreants of Taliwood plot

"Not Hollywood, not Bollywood: this is Taliwood," said Australian filmmaker and visual artist George Gittoes after his two-year sojourn in Taliban-occupied northern Pakistan. The surreal war situation doesn't stop local filmmakers from making entertainment films with large doses of half-naked ladies, action heroes and kitchen-maid romance. "We want to see the local boobs," explains a video store owner in Peshawar about the need for local film production. He is not thanked by the ruling Taliban moralists, who burn video stores and burn DVDs at the stake. When Gittoes hears that the production of one telefilm costs only four thousand dollars, he immediately decides to make two. That results in shooting days full of hilarious gunfights, fake blood and scenes with dwarves and action heroes.
